Who's That Girl?

Welcome! My name is Martine Dardignac (pronounced dar-deen-yack, like cognac). It’s a super French name, although I am from New York. I’m the owner of The Capable Bride and Wedding M.D. The first is meant as a source of inspiration as well as to give you practical tips on wedding planning. The second is meant to provide you with planning services so that you can party in style.

I consider weddings to be one of life’s greatest celebrations. It’s universal and combines love, family, and friendship. Something so great can’t be that bad, right? Unfortunately, for a lot of people, it really is a challenge. Prior to officially starting my wedding planning business, I had the privilege of helping many people plan their weddings. And you know what I saw before jumping in? Stress. Frustration. People who were otherwise, strong, capable, loving folks tended to lose the thread when it came to planning. The reason behind it was quite simple: wedding planning takes a lot of work, is an important milestone that most people only go through once, and most people have no idea what they’re signing up for when they begin. Yes, the internet has a vast store of resources, but it also has a whole host of opinions that may be right for the author, but not necessarily the couple planning their wedding. And so, it was primarily because I wanted to help people simplify the planning process and gain control of the conversation that I decided to officially become a wedding planner.

I am a planner by nature: I like to create order out of chaos, and I enjoy helping people accomplish their goals. I’m not just a certified wedding planner, I am also a professional project manager. I spent nine years at Microsoft honing my craft and learning to simplify processes, motivating others to action, and accomplishing great things. Project management is all about taking a big project and breaking it down in to it’s component parts, and motivating others to complete certain tasks. As a project manager, I track budgets, implement time management techniques to keep the project on schedule, and ensure task completion. Planning a wedding is ultimately one large project, albeit imbued with tradition and personal meaning.

In order to help couples on their journey to their wedding, I created a system that allows for personal preferences and customization while still efficiently managing the planning process. It’s the best of all worlds: my couples get to enjoy the wedding they want, but don’t have to worry about the back-end details or troubleshooting issues that come up during the planning process. I am committed to helping you get there as well.

So, where do we go from here? That is ultimately up to you. My suggestion: let us at Wedding M.D. take care of you. I’d love to help, if you’ll allow it. Schedule a consultation to learn more about how we can help you on your journey to wedded bliss.

In the meantime, I look forward to getting to know you!

Love,

Martine
