Part 2 of a four-part wedding weekend series

If the Welcome Brunch and Mehndi eased everyone into the weekend, the Sangeet did the opposite: it lifted the energy, turned up the music, and brought the entire celebration to life. Hosted the evening of Day 1, Gursifath and Chandan’s Sangeet was a joyful explosion of color, rhythm, and connection, setting the stage for the ceremonies still to come.
Held at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City, the Sangeet unfolded against a dramatic skyline backdrop, blending modern elegance with cultural tradition. The room was transformed by Exclusive Events, who designed a romantic setting anchored by cascading cherry blossoms, soft candlelight, and a rich navy backdrop that framed the stage beautifully. At the center sat a plush sofa beneath the florals — equal parts regal and inviting — where the couple would pause between performances, laughter, and quiet moments together.

Fashion played a starring role in the evening. Gursifath wore a shimmering ensemble by Nazranaa, striking the perfect balance between glamour and movement and made for dancing, twirling, and celebration. Chandan complemented her look in a tailored sherwani, polished and timeless, with details that echoed the richness of the décor. Together, they embodied the spirit of the evening: elevated, joyful, and effortlessly in sync.
From the moment the music began, the dance floor filled quickly. On Point Events kept the energy flowing all night, seamlessly mixing Bollywood favorites with modern beats that pulled guests of all ages into the celebration. Performances from family and friends (choreographed, spontaneous, and everything in between) became highlights of the evening, each one met with cheers and applause that echoed through the room.

Between dances, guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated menu by Bukhara Grill Caterer, grounding the high-energy celebration with familiar, comforting flavors. It was the kind of night where no one stayed seated for long while laughter spilled across tables, conversations overlapped, and the sense of togetherness only deepened as the evening went on.
Behind the scenes, the flow of the night reflected the same intentionality that defined the entire weekend. Transitions felt effortless, performances unfolded seamlessly, and moments of celebration never felt rushed or forced. It was a reflection of Gursifath and Chandan themselves: two engineers who understand structure deeply, yet know exactly when to let go and enjoy the moment.
Captured beautifully by Ishan & Preeti, the Sangeet felt less like a formal event and more like a shared experience, one where joy moved freely from person to person, carried by music, movement, and the collective excitement of what was still to come.

As the night wound down, there was a quiet shift in the air. The laughter lingered, the music softened, and anticipation settled in. The celebration had only just begun and the next morning would bring something entirely different in tone, meaning, and emotion.
Up next in Part 3: Day 2 Morning — The First Look and Sikh Ceremony (Anand Karaj).
